Our Heritage

The Heart of Wild Things Collective

Wild Things Collective was born from muddy boots, creek walks, forest trails, and the belief that childhood should feel a little wild again. After years of teaching children, studying early childhood development, and creating hands-on nature programs through Primitive Wildlings, I realized the heart of what I was building was never really about “primitive skills.” It was about freedom. Curiosity. Connection. Community. Childhood the way it was always meant to be — messy, magical, outdoors, and deeply alive. As a mom of two, I found myself longing for slower days and meaningful experiences for my own children too. I wanted spaces where kids could climb trees, build forts, notice bird songs, get dirty, ask questions, create freely, and feel deeply connected to the natural world around them. A place where families could gather, breathe a little deeper, and remember what matters. The name itself actually came from one of my students, sweet Little Ms. Chelsea, who would lovingly call our classes “wild tings.” The nickname stuck — because honestly, that’s exactly what we are. A little wild. A little whimsical. A little untamed. Wild Things Collective is more than classes. It’s a growing community centered around nature, creativity, childhood wonder, outdoor adventure, and raising kind, capable, connected humans. This is for the kids who come home with muddy knees and pockets full of treasures. For the families craving community and slower living. For the children who belong outside.

Our Purpose & Mission

To nurture the untamed spirit of childhood through immersive nature education, building generations of curious, resilient, and earth-connected humans.

By merging Scandinavian slow childhood philosophies with local wilderness discovery, we create a sanctuary where children learn not just about the world, but through it. We believe nature is the ultimate classroom for developing empathy, autonomy, and lasting community bonds.

My Promise
A Trusted Partnership

You aren't just enrolling in a program; you are joining me in a shared journey to help your children grow wild, brave, and deeply curious.

Voices from the Wild

Wild Things has transformed our weekends. Our daughter comes home with dirty hands and a heart full of stories. She's more confident and deeply connected to the seasons than we ever thought possible.

The Henderson Family

Finally, a program that values slow progress and real discovery. The guides are warm, knowledgeable, and trust children to lead their own exploration. It's the childhood we always wanted for our son.

Sarah & Mark Miller

Joining the collective felt like coming home. The community aspect is beautiful—we've met such like-minded parents while our kids build forts and learn about the local flora and fauna.
